Thanks Giving Day

The first kind of trading in this area occurred in the 16th century. The cattle fair was held around the Castle that is placed in the city centre. In the beginning the fair was held once a year on All Saints day. Later it was held twice a year, once a month and in the end once a week, usually on Tuesday .In 1927 the first market building was constructed. That is the year of the market establishment.

After the World War Two the authorities banned the All Saints day fair. In 1998 the management of the market in order to correct injustice that lasted for years, organized the manifestation called Thanks giving day. Since then the manifestation is held in the market every year on All Saints day.

The Thanks giving day serves for producers, tenants, consumers and visitors to associate among themselves. On that day the employees of the market welcome their tenants and consumers with a warm smile, food, drink and music. In that way the market wants to express gratitude to its tenants and consumers, because without them the market would not be what it is today.

Entertaining program for the manifestation every year becomes richer and richer. The most popular domestic stars participate in the program every year. Also every year the market declare its champions in different categories: production of fruit, vegetables, breeding of cattle ,etc.
